Choosing Candle Vessels

If you’re making candles for decoration, it’s important to choose a candle vessel that’s made of heat-resistant material, such as porcelain or metal. Glass, on the other hand, is more likely to crack and break, so choose a vessel that’s sturdy and won’t shatter. Mason jars are an excellent choice. Enamel is also safe and a great material for candles. It’s nonporous and thick, so your candles will be more stable and won’t crack.

Once you’ve chosen a vessel, the next step is to clean it thoroughly. You can use a hair dryer or an oven to melt off excess wax. Once the wax is melted, you should pour it into a garbage bag and wipe the vessel clean. You can also use soapy water to remove leftover wax or wick residue.

Candle vessels come in every shape and size imaginable. A votive, for example, is a small cylindrical candle approximately one and a half inches high. It’s designed to be held in a candle holder, and is typically white. Today, however, votives can be made with a variety of colors and scents. Another option is a gel candle, which is a mixture of mineral oils and synthetic hydrocarbons. These hardened candles have the consistency of freestanding candles, and decorative wax items are often suspended within them.

Candles are not only used as decor, but they can also be used as storage vessels for other household items. For example, you can reuse the empty glass jars from candle jars as vase holders, or to store jewelry or other accessories. You can even use them as catch-alls for office supplies.
